THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP
We hope you will join us this Sunday, December 25th as we celebrate Christmas. Pastor Phillip will share “Christmas is for Ordinary People” with us. The scripture lesson is Luke 2:1-7.
SPECIAL WORSHIP TIME—MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Mark your calendars for worship on Sunday, December 25th and Sunday, January 1st. Both Sundays, we will have one worship service at 9:30am with no Sunday School.
ANGEL TREE
Bring new or gently used warm hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves and hang them on the tree for the homeless adults served by Humble Hearts. They can also use warm blankets that fit inside a sleeping bag, and these can be placed under the tree.
PASTOR FAREWELL AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY RECEPTION FOR REV. PHILLIP COLE
Following the single service on Christmas Day at 9:30 AM, you will have the chance to show some love and appreciation for our very own Reverend Cole who has sacrificed 4 months of retirement to serve as our interim pastor. The Staff Parish Relations committee will provide cookies and coffee in the narthex following the service, where you can pause a moment before rushing off to your Christmas gatherings to say a word of thanks to Phillip and Cheryl. Bring your cards of Appreciation and Birthday Greetings as we will have a basket in the narthex beginning 12/18/22 to collect these for Reverend Cole’s enjoyment. Belinda Worsham, Staff Parish Chair
POINSETTIAS
Thank you to everyone who placed a poinsettia in the church in memory or honor of someone. They have made our sanctuary even more beautiful during this holiday season. If you purchased one or more of these lovely plants, you may take them with you after the worship service on Sunday or pick them up from the office during regular hours. Special thanks to Carl and Elwanda Wilson for watering and caring for these plants through the season.
Parsonage Meal and Food Donations Welcome—Week of December 26 – 31, 2022
Next week beginning the day after Christmas, Pastor Byron Alexander, his wife Jana and his son Cooper will be moving into the parsonage full time. They will be busy unpacking boxes, setting up their household and office and running back and forth to their prior parsonage to oversee cleaning and participate in final walkthroughs.
During this week if any group or individual would like to bring in frozen casseroles, soups, or meal items which can be heated up at will, you can call Byron at 704-441-2183 or Jana at 704-881-3736 to coordinate a time to drop off these items when they will be at the parsonage. Gift cards to area restaurants are also welcome.
