Do you love your pets? Do you have a special place in your heart for all God’s creatures? Then, join us for the Blessing of the Pets on Sunday, July 24 at 5:30pm. The Blessing of the Pets is a centuries-old tradition of the Church started in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. St. Francis was well known for his love of animals. Stories tell of him preaching to flocks of birds, dissuading mosquitoes from biting him and even convincing a wolf to stop stalking humans and livestock in Gubbio, Italy, where he once lived. At the Blessing of the Animals, people remember and emulate Francis’ example of love for animals and appreciation of God’s creations. The Blessing of the Pets will take place in the church Pavilion. You’re invited to bring your pet (properly restrained or in a carrier). This event is open to the community, and pets of all shapes, sizes, and species are welcome!
